Shopping
Many stores in San Jose del Cabo are in old colonial buildings. Jewelry, especially black coral, and resort wear are the best buys. Crafts, including pewter, Mexican ceramics, wood furniture and woven rugs, can also be found in stores here.
Cabos San Lucas is filled with jewelry shops, open-air bazaars, designer boutiques and souvenir shops. The Artisans' Market at the marina's fishing boat dock features dozens of stalls selling handicrafts and clothing. Mall shopping can be found at Plaza Bonita at the eastern edge of the Marina, as well as Plaza del Mar and Plaza de la Danza.
With the area's recent popularity and influx of foreign visitors from around the world, Los Cabos now offers a wide range of boutiques, gift shops and galleries. Imported American goods are more commonly available here than in other Mexican resorts, particularly at the supermarkets where the shelves are stocked with familiar American products.
Most shops are open from 9am to late evening except during the hot summer days when a siesta from 2-4pm is a must. You'll also save thanks to the region's lower sales tax.
