In Monterrey and its surrounding areas you’ll find various theme parks where you can enjoy entertaining parades, musical acts and science and technology events.
Parque Fundidora. Located at the corner of Av. Fundidora and Adolfo Prieto, in the Obrera neighborhood. This 114-hectare (281-acre) park offers cultural and historical attractions, entertainment, nature areas and plenty of fun. Here you’ll see plazas, walkways, gardens, old buildings, lakes and a children’s play area. It also has a botanical garden, a business convention center, a history archive and an art center. Open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Parque Plaza Sesamo (Sesame Street Park). Located at 3700-1 Agricola Street, in the Agricola neighborhood, in the Parque Fundidora. This park has amusement rides for all ages, musical shows and parades. Here visitors will have the opportunity to see their favorite Sesame Street characters. During the summer, the park is open daily from 11:00 to 9:00; during the winter, it’s open Tuesday through Friday from 3:00 to 9:00 and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 9:00.
Parque Niños Heroes. Located at 1000 Av. Alfonso Reyes, at Luis Sada, in the Regina neighborhood. On this park’s ground you’ll find the Automobile Museum, the Museum of Science and Technology and the Museum of Fauna and Natural Science. It also has bicycle trails. Open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Bioparque Estrella. Located 55 minutes from Monterrey, off the Monterrey-Ciudad Victoria National Highway. This 330-hectare (815-acre) park has lakes, rides for children, a botanical garden and a zoo. Open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 to 6:00 and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 7:00.
