In Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo’s main museum you can learn about the history of the city’s founders and the cultural evolution of the rest of the region.

Museo Arqueologico de la Costa Grande – Located in Zihuatanejo, on Paseo del Pescador, in front of Playa Municipal. This museum has an interesting collection of objects found at the 54 archaeological zones in Zihuatanejo’s surrounding areas and in Costa Grande. The pieces on display have Olmec, Teotihuacan, Tarasca and Mexica influences. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 to 6:00.
