Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Board announces a full schedule
of special events, celebrations and festivals throughout the year. From art to
gastronomy, golf to sailfish, Puerto Vallarta has a special event for every
traveler. Schedule your vacation around one of these international festivals
and be there as the world comes to Puerto Vallarta.
San Diego to Puerto Vallarta Yacht Race - (Late February)
The San Diego
Yacht Club hosts the 27th annual San Diego to Puerto Vallarta race.

World Jazz Festival (May)

Independence Day (Sept. 15-16)
This festival includes the Grito de Dolores (shout or cry of
Dolores) on the night of the 15th. This is a re-enactment of the cry for
independence made by Miguel Hidalgo. Also included are parades, music and
fireworks. On the 16th the town celebrates with parades and fesivities again.

Fiesta del Mar (Nov. 8-24)
The 4th Annual SeaFest is a celebration of marine activities including a
Sailfish Tournament, Fine Art Festival, and Gourmet Festival. It also includes
many athletic events such as volleyball, jet skiing and golf tournaments.

Annual World Billfish Series Grand Championship
(November to December)
Usually held at the Paradise Village Resort in Nuevo Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta Art Festival
Annual Festival de las Artes features a month-long series of art gallery
shows and open-air, beachside theater performances. An impressive range of
artwork is displayed from artists throughout Mexico. All events are free to
the public.

Dia de la Virgen de Guadalupe (November)
In the small village of Quixmixto, south of Puerto Vallarta, the Virgin of
Guadalupe is celebrated. Included in the festivities is mass at the local
church and the local fisherman celebrate in the morning with song and
offerings to the Virgin, in the bay.

Puerto Vallarta Gourmet Festival (November)
Mexico’s premier culinary event. It serves to showcase a spicy blend of
culinary talents between the local chefs at participating restaurants and
over 20 guest chefs from internationally acclaimed restaurants and hotels
throughout the world. Gourmet cooking classes, sunset wine tasting and
special gourmet menus at all participating venues available to diners only
during the festival.

Jalisco International Sailfishing Tournament (November)
One of the most prestigious and traditional national and international
tournaments on the West Coast of Mexico. Over 900,000 Pesos awarded in prize
money.

Puerto Vallarta Film Festival (November)
The festival will feature screenings of John Huston's films. He is credited
with placing PV on the international map because of his film, "The Night
of the Iguana". Also included will be brief lectures on John Huston and
his films.
