City’s Promenade: The new ‘Malecon’ was inaugurated the 11 of February of 1999. It has three lanes, two fast routes, one of low speed with lanes , 3 pedestrian steps and the wide central park
Zacatal Bridge: In the eastern end, the Bridge Solidarity, commonly called “Zacatal Bridge”, connects the Island of Carmen with the continent. The western part of the Term’s Lagoon communicates to the Gulf of Mexico on a channel of more than 3 kms (1.8 miles) in length. Thanks to its depth, the border zone of the island of Carmen constitutes a natural defence of the boats.
Musical Fountains: This square was inaugurated on Dec 1, 2002. It has an interactive musical fountain that allows unifying the height of different water torrents, offering a 20 mins spectacle at the beginning of every hour, from 18:00 hrs until 22:00 hrs.
The design of the fountains evokes the concept of the city’s military and architecture. This park is complemented with the positioning of 21 flagpoles with its respective flags in red and blue tones, which are attributed to the colours of the shield of Campeche, representing this way, park and flags, the Mexican sites from the World Heritage list.
