Snorkeling and Scuba

Snorkeling is one of the all-time favorite activities for visitors to Cancun and the surrounding areas, and possibly the easiest way to have a Jacques Cousteau adventure. You can rent equipment at the diveshops and in most hotels and discover local underwater life. Snorkeling and diving, all takes place in crystalline Caribbean waters over the world’s second largest barrier reef system, and discover the archipelago composed by Holbox, Contoy, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel and Chinchorro islands. Guided tours run from an hour and a half to four hours, include guides, boat, reef excursion, life or snorkel jacket, soft drinks and beer and in longer tours one or two meals. As a premier dive destination, Cancun has every type of diving imaginable, from open water reef dives, to wrecks to caverns and caves. Resort courses are offered at most hotels for beginners, while advanced dives are available for the experienced seeking serious adventure. Beginners seeking to move past their resort course can be certified in a 4 to 5 day holiday and take their open water permit home with them. Once you dive the pristine reefs and warm transparent waters of the Mexican Caribbean you’ll have a hard time finding anything comparable anywhere in the world.
