History has left us an incomparable heritage. More than 3,000 years ago, the ancient Mayan culture settled on the Yucatan Peninsula, either in the middle of the jungle, or on the edge of the brilliant turquoise ocean. The principal development of this incredible culture appeared in Mexico, where the most representative cities were founded, such as Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, Coba, Uxmal, Palenque, Edzna, Calakmul, Kohunlich, Tulum and many more. Cancun is the port of entry to the Mayan World and in an excellent location from which to head out for the principal historic ceremonial centers.
