In the archaeological zone of Dzibilchaltún, located 22 km outside Mérida, lies the gigantic cenote or limestone sinkhole of Xlacá, where only experienced divers will be able to explore the deep waters of this magical spot.

Cenotes

Yucatan’s cenotes have become a favorite among rappelling and underground diving enthusiasts, who rappel down their vertical walls on ropes and dive in the underground reservoirs. Some of the most beautiful cenotes include Balamcanché, Dzitnup, Xlacah, Xlacá in Dzibichaltún, Zací in Valladolid and Zamá in Tecoh.
